looking at a watch

How many times have you felt guilty about wasting time? And how much time do you spend thinking about making the most of your time?

If you struggle with using the time you have to serve your life in the best possible way, then you are in the right place.

Making the most of your time does not mean you squeeze productivity out of every minute you have. But it is the idea that you try to make every minute benefit your life somehow.

“Lost time is never found again.”

– Benjamin Franklin.

Find out more why time is important

Here are 6 Productive ways to spend your time to improve your life.

1. Building skills to create your dreams into reality.

Do you have projects your heart has been longing for? Then this is the best opportunity to spend time building what you are passionate about.

For some, it is starting a business, becoming a parent, getting a degree, running a community project or becoming a professional photographer. How about you? What is your dream?

Whatever projects you would like to bring to life, you need skills. If you have a dream, there is no better way to spend your time on than building the required skill sets to make your dream a reality.

2. Doing the things adding joy to your life

We all have something that fills our souls.  Something that, when we enter that space and immerse ourselves in those activities, we lose track of time.

For example, Painting, cooking, going for a long walk, spending time in nature or as simple as watering plants; These activities are simple, and yet they can add so much joy and happiness to your days. All you need to do is find out what you enjoy doing; you need to ensure that the activities you choose are not harming you or others.

Who knows, the simple activities that fill you with joy in your everyday life can turn into your life-changing career.

3. Rest, Refill and Re-energise

Our human body uses energy to operate; every movement and every element of our body uses energy to function.  The nature of the human body requires us to refill enough energy to work effectively.

These 3 Rs are critical for a happy, healthy and meaningful life.

  • Rest: Rest is time well spent: If you need 8 hours of sleep, block that 8 hours to prioritise your sleep.  If you need that 30-minute nap during the day to refresh your mind and body to another level, then do it. Give time for your body to have the energy it needs to perform different tasks to serve your everyday life.
  • Refill:  It is the idea of spending time with yourself: Some people block out Sunday for Me Time to spend time with themselves in solitude. Where they relax, reflect on the last week and plan their next week. It can be sitting on the couch with a cup of tea in the evening, or if you are a morning raiser, you may want to take a moment to appreciate the beautiful sunrise in the morning or the bright stars at night if you are night owl.  If you are like me,  I prefer to block out one hour every morning to spend time with my plants, writing in my journal while enjoying my coffee.Take that time to connect with yourself,  reflect on what happened daily, gain perspectives and start your day with a clear mind.  Again, find out what works best for you to clear and reorganise your mind and refill your heart with fresh energy and perspective.
  • Re-energise: it is related to being active. There is no better way to release tension and re-energise your body than exercise.  Countless studies prove that exercise can improve your health, including strengthening your heart, better circulation, controlling weight, fighting diseases, promoting sleep and boosting your mood; these are just some good reasons why you spend time on exercise is one of the best decisions. You can start with taking 30 minutes of moderated exercise every day.

Another way to re-energise is to move throughout the day; it can be as simple as taking a 5-minute break every 1 hour working, e.g. getting up to the restroom, getting a cup of tea or doing a light stretch.

4. Personal development

When you spend time doing exercise, you build your physical strength. Meanwhile, you are strengthening the brain muscle and building mental strength by spending time on personal development. This is essential if you would like to be successful in life.

You can do so many things, but I will share what I found most beneficial.

  • Read books: not general books but non-fiction books on personal development. Books condense the authors’ life lessons and the gems of wisdom they cultivated over their lifetime for you to read for less than 20 hours.  There are millions of excellent books to improve every area of your life, including relationships, work and finance, businesses, leadership and more. If you are looking for motivation and strategies to start an entrepreneur path, I recommend reading @navalmanack– The almanack of naval ravikant a guide to wealth and happiness by @www.navalmanack.com it is free and full of insights.
  • Life coach or courses: This is a life-changing experience for me. However, only some classes will reciprocate the money and time you spend. But trust me; it is the real game changer if you find the right one that best suits you. I am currently on @jayshettygenius.com not that I get any commission, but it changed my life, and I believe it will change yours too.
  • Cultivating knowledge from online sources: millions of world-class resources are accessible and free at your fingertips, including social media. My place to go is Youtube, Instagram, podcasts and blogs. Since you are here, you are in the right place. I recommend the Women empowerment content; I recommended Podcast @women-of-impact by Hosted by Lisa Bilyeu; it is available on Youtube as well

5. Connect with others

Humans are social creatures. Feeling belonged and loved is crucial to living a happy and fulfilling life. Make time for your significant other, your parents and those who are important to you, especially the people that always there whenever you need them. Call them, catch up with them and spend quality time with them. It will bring not only joy and fulfilment into your life but to them as well. Remember that we all have limited time here on earth, so love and appreciate them when you can.

If they are already gone, you can send them love and prayers; if you have faith, they will feel your love and receive your prayers; trust me, they will receive it.

6. Connect with the divine source by being present

You can connect with the divine source and God in the space between your thoughts; in the present moment. If you want to receive guidance from the divine Universe, learn to be at ease in the present moment. I recommend starting with meditation. Meditation is the best tool to ease the mind and silence the inner dialogue. You can feel your intuition, inner guidance, and wisdom truth in the space of silence when you get still. You can tap into the divine intelligence frequency, where you seek and receive the answer.

Another thing you can do is mindful practice; put your intention and attention to whatever you are doing now without thinking about the past or worrying about the future. Remember, life is now; everything happens in the now. The past once occurred in the now, the future will soon happen in the now, and you can only change your life in the now. Most importantly, you can only connect with God in this present moment, in the now.

Be in the now, and all you want will fall into its place as the will of God.
